You spoke, we listened.

I'm happy to announce that Avlon's KeraCare line has now seen some significant upgrades.

Firstly, we finally upgraded the package to a sleek new design that we all hope you like. Stylists: retailing this new package will be a piece of cake. The new packaging is aesthetically pleasing and will look very good on your shelves.

As I begin to plan for the next decade of products, I wanted to give you a chance to voice some of your ideas, in terms of products that you would like to see from Avlon & Syntonics in the next decade. We have had a very successful 25 years of operation, and most of that success stems from the feedback that we have received from the marketplace.

I recently had the pleasure to be interviewed by Gennifer Miller, founder of Healthy Textures. We covered a broad array of topics that I think might help create some clarity with regards to the science behind haircare.

Time to celebrate. I'm pleased to announce that Avlon Industries will be receiving its ISO 9001:2000 Certification.

The topic of Diversion is not a new topic, and its not a topic that will go away anytime soon. Still, it pains me to see people overpay for products that are old and counterfeit.

From time to time, I get feedback from people using old, counterfeit, and overpriced  diverted products; feedback that is pretty much useless to me. Avlon prides itself on its "Satisfaction Guaranteed" quality commitment. Unfortunately, we cannot and will not extend that commitment to users of diverted products.

To those of you that purchase diverted products. I would like to ask: If you were hypothetically in the market for a luxury car, would you overpay for one from the used car dealership around the corner? If you were in the market for a designer purse, would you log onto an online auction website and purchase it from there? If you were in the market for designer high-heels, would you head to the nearest discount retailer?

I would hope your answer would be "No."

So make sure you don't buy your Avlon products from unauthorized sellers. Buy from your stylist, or at least from an authorized distributor. If you see Avlon products in an unauthorized place of business, please call our toll-free hotline immediately (800-556-7101) or comment in this entry.

As part of Avlon and Syntonics' long-term social commitment to the global community, I wanted to talk a little about a microfinance website that you may have already heard of, called Kiva.

Kiva is a not-for-profit website where you can fund loans to entrepreneurs around the world in a peer to peer fashion, meaning that you can pick and choose who receives your loan and follow their updates as they pay you back.

I think now is more of an important time than ever to support microfinancial institutions, as the tightening of the global credit markets could have a negative boomerang effect on many deserving entrepreneurs. A quick look at the risk statistics shows that surprisingly only 2.2% of loans end up defaulting. Moreover, if the field partner distributing your loan has a rating of four or five stars, Kiva claims a 0% default rate.
